Why women need to verify on Sunday

When you think of Dating Apps, you think of a skewed gender ratio, right? Data tells us that it’s generally 3:1 (Men: Women). So, when we should be aiming to onboard as many women as possible, why are we requiring them to undergo verification?

That’s because we’re not a Dating App, and we’ve flipped the script a bit.

We’re an app for people who actually want a relationship, not just cute dates or somebody you could see for a short period of time.

But the problem is that most people on popular dating apps do not want something substantive or meaningful.

That’s why we made a few bold decisions, which include empowering women to decide who can make a profile on Sunday.

Let us explain.

Why Women Are Empowered on Sunday

When we set out to build a Relationship App, one of the main problems we faced was “How to keep people who do not want a relationship out?”

And finally, we settled on an invite-only access. Only those who have an invite can make an account.

But who would invite? Would it be the platform, men, or women?

That’s when we relied upon a plethora of secondary research- Surveys, Studies, Experiments, News Articles.

And we realised that when it comes to dating apps, men are more likely to lie about their intentions. In fact, classical evolutionary theory suggests that men are also more likely to maximise their copulation opportunities than women.

It was proved by a recent experiment conducted on men and women using dating apps.

So it was getting clear, then.

Between the two, women should be empowered to decide who gets access to the platform.

But with great power, comes great responsibility.

A responsibility towards other women

To make this work, we need to make sure that the women on Sunday are real, on the same page, and would not misuse their power.

That’s where verification comes in. A simple process, but an important one.

When women are verified, they know they’re part of something meaningful. When men join via invite, they know they’re being held to a higher standard. Everyone shows up differently.

And that’s the kind of platform where relationships can actually begin.

So, the verification is not about making it difficult for women to make an account, but rather the contrary.

It’s about giving them power and clarity. It’s about building a platform that trusts women to make good decisions- for themselves, and for each other.
